From the family of the scientist, doctor, surgeon and Director of the N.V. Sklifosovskiy-Institute of Emergency Medicine, N.V. Obrosov. Graduated from the Moscow Higher Arts and Crafts College (formerly Stroganovskiy College) in 1954. Held the Chair of the Monumental Decorative Art Department at the S. G. Stroganov State Arts and Crafts University in Moscow (1995 -1997), was Secretary of the Board of the Artists’ Union of the RSFSR (1972-1976), Secretary of the board of the Artists’ Union of the USSR (1983-19889). Fully fledged member of the Presidium of the Russian Academy of Fine Arts (from 1999 on). People’s Artist of the RSFSR (1983). Was awarded the State Prize of the USSR (1989), recipient of the following prizes: Grand Prix of the International Triennial in Sofia (Bulgaria) in 1982, the International Biennial of Graphic Art in Norway (1974), the International Prize in Kosice (Czechoslovakia) in 1980 and the State Prize of the Russian Federation (2000). Was awarded the M.B. Grekov Gold medal n 1983 and the “Order of Honour” of the Russian Federation in 2001.
