People's Artist of the Azerbaijan SSR (1967). People's Artist of the USSR (1989). Winner of State Prizes of the USSR and the Azerbaijan SSR. Corresponding Member of the Academy of Arts (2002). Vice-President of the Committee of Solidarity of Asian and African Countries (1973). Painter, artist of monumental and decorative art, artist of the theater. He studied at the Azerbaijan Art College n. a. A. Azimzade, Lithuanian Art Institute at the faculties of Monumental Art and then Easel Painting (1950-1955).
