Schwartz Dmitry Petrovich

Dmitry Petrovich Schwartz (1899-1961) - Soviet sculptor. Honored Artist of the RSFSR (1958). Laureate of the Stalin Prize of the first degree (1950).

D.P.Schwartz was born in 1899 in Ladyzhyn (now Vinnytsia region of Ukraine). In his youth he lived in Tashkent. He took lessons from the local sculptor K. Dano (1915-1917). In 1918-1922 he studied at the Tashkent Art College. In 1929 he graduated from Vhutein. Member of AHRR and RAPH.

Since 1948 he taught at the Moscow Art Theater named after V.I. Surikov. Professor (1957). Corresponding Member of the Academy of Arts of the USSR (1958).

D.P. Schwartz died in 1961. He was buried in Moscow at the Novodevichy cemetery (plot number 8).
